Calling out the Right, Republicans and other jerks in politics

republicans love torture

Who is the audience here?

Maybe I just don’t know enough about America, but republicans seem to be assuming that we prefer accused terrorists of being tortured relentlessly rather than actually getting useful information out of them.  Why ask them anything at all?  Lets just toss them in the Iron Maiden and be done with it.

Alarmed at the prospect of an America that doesn’t torture everyone in sight, Senator Mitch McConnell (r-KY), in the face of overwhelming evidence of the success of legal interrogation techniques, accused the Obama administration (and, really, the FBI) of treating Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab (the so-called “Christmas Bomber”) “as if he had robbed a convenience store.”  This was in response to the “discovery” (and republican screaming point of the week) that Abdulmutallab had been (God no!) read his Miranda rights.

Can you imagine?  Treating terrorists like criminals?  Using arguably the finest system of justice in the world to deal with terrorism on American soil?  Just makes your skin crawl, doesn’t it?  The horror, the horror…

More great quotes from idiotic republicans, who simply DON’T GET IT:

  • Jeff Sessions (r-AL) complained that he should have been “properly interrogated” (translation: had electrodes attached to his fingertips upon arrest).
  • Scott Brown (nude model-MA):  “In dealing with terrorists, our tax dollars should pay for weapons to stop them, not lawyers to defend them.”
  • And how about the classic disproving-the-imaginary argument from Senator Kit Bond (r-MI): “We will never know what life-saving information on co-conspirators and future plots we missed out on.”  (and we will never know the progress America lost while republicans were in power.)

Of course, as so many accused terrorists before him, accused shoe bomber Richard Reid was read his Miranda rights following arrest.  Can you believe Obama would do such a thing?  Oh…wait a second…  And who can forget the republican uproar when that sniveling professor-in-chief Bush did that?  Riiiiiight…

Republican hypocrisy at its finest.  Fear-mongering at its greatest.  Call the president weak, cowardly, wimpy.  Don’t you see, everyone in American needs to be very, very afraid that this uber-liberal, socialist, communist, racist, kenyan, muslim, grandma-killing black man is GOING TO LET YOU DIE!!!!
